Anyway, I invite everyone to share this and also contact reposters to ask them to take stolen posts down. If they refuse or insult you send me a screenshot and let me know.
Remember that reposting means taking pics/gifs/posts you did not make and post them on your blog without credits.
google images, weheartit and pinterest are archives that do not give credits and take every picture they find. Original posters NEVER posted on those websites. Pictures are usually posted on flickr or forums, while gifs usually come from tumblr itself. So be careful.
@frankierophotofolder their bio: “just a place to store photos. Not mine. Don’t send hate asks or ask me to take them down, because I’m ignoring them. Thanks.” You store pics in a private folder. On internet you either give credit or don’t do anything.
@freakpierrot they repost a lot of art that isn’t theirs and when confronted about it they didn’t understand what’s wrong with it. (they have also send anon hate to my personal blog when i asked people to respect frank and gerard’s marriages).
@jozgreen stole gifs and reposted pics that have been going around on tumblr for a while. some of the gifs are theirs but it’s hard to know which ones.
@a—o—s stole a whole gifset and blocked the op when they asked them to take it down.
@prettyboygee ships incest between gerard and mikey way. friends who remain anonymous tried to excuse incest as well.
@neverxever blocked me after i’ve told them to delete.
@kingandqueenme they blocked me because i’ve asked them to delete their reposts
@cristalroses reposts many other things besides mcr, they’ve already been contacted but they refused to take posts down or give credits. gonna reblog the conversations original creators had with them.
y’all do realize if you keep reposting gifs without permission/credit/following the gifmakers rules, gifmakers will eventually get completely fed up with all of you and stop making content for you to enjoy.
gifmakers spend HOURS sometimes days, weeks, etc on gifsets. from creating ideas to downloading/finding videos to colouring the gif to sharpening, etc, it takes so much time and gifmakers do this completely on their own free time, for free. just so y’all can enjoy content of your favs. not to mention the time gifmakers often spend doing requests from other people just to be nice and make someone else happy!
so with this i remind everyone to stop? reposting gifs?? i don’t care if you “saw it on google/twt/etc”, if you did not make it, It Is Not Yours To Post. that is a very simple concept im sure all of you know full well of. and when you come across gifs that are clearly reposted, don’t reblog them? like if you see a gifset with multiple different colourings, a gifset with someone else’s url in the watermark, a bunch of gifs in a textpost with no referral link, etc. it can be pretty easy to tell when something’s been reposted also saying “credit to original giffer” means nothing. ASK permission before using someone’s gifs always.
it’s okay if you genuinely weren’t aware until now, but please, stop disrespecting contentmakers and thinking you can completely take advantage of them and their works.

I’ve been called a bully multiple times for creating a blog who calls out the reposts and reposters. i have been extremely nice to every single one of those blogs and everybody can see it as i have posted every conversation i had with them.
nonetheless some people got extremely mad and sent me terrible insults and random ugly messages without even realizing how hateful and severe the thing is (here you can see what i got just recently).
they claim to have proofs that i am a bully but literally everything is public. i posted private conversations myself.
I have always invited anybody who had problems with me to contact me on my personal blog and have just a simple chat. i got nothing. when anon is off all i get is nice messages from nice people. no one dares to show themselves to criticize me because apparently they are actually aware that what they are doing is literally bullying and their only intent is to damage me and my mental health, which is kinda of ironic as most of tumblr claims to care about these issues.
i will not let it happen ever again. i invite everybody who has been harassed by anons to either turn it off and/or block instead of replying. it will make your experience better.
i invite everybody who hates me to publish all the receipts they have and then leave me and this blog alone.
i will eventually turn anon asks on again but in a while. i’m so sorry you all had to get involved like this but i still want to run this blog and i want to be happy while i do it. i hope you will understand and respect my choice.
Bullying is unacceptable. If you don’t like being called out for reposting, be a decent human being and stop doing it. @postmcrnews works very hard to provide updates on all the former members of my chemical romance, and they deserve your respect. The artists and content producers deserve your respect too. STOP REPOSTING PHOTOS, ART, AND CONTENT. CREDIT THE ARTISTS.
report them!! it’s one of the few features that works on tumblr.
find the post they stole, click on the share button and find ‘report’. click on ‘report something else’ and then ‘misattribution’ and then so on. you will have to provide the original post url!
i am so sick of seeing people not only steal gifs, but reblogging them. people have stolen my gifs before, and every time i see them gain hundreds of notes, my heart sinks. reblogging stolen gifs is just as bad at the person stealing the gifs. you are contributing to stolen work and that is not okay. so, to make sure you don’t accidentally pull the douche move of reblogging a repost, let’s go over a few signs to tell if a gifset is stolen:
the size doesn’t match up (small and large gifs in the same set, one 250px gif taking up the whole row, etc)
the coloring doesn’t match up (color and black/white or a soft pastel and a harsh red being in the same gifset)
the caption of it being like “OMG look at these cute babies!” or “This scene is so good!” etc (something that’s more of a comment than a caption)
you’ve never seen the url before
you go down the person’s blog and they have multiple gifsets posted, all looking as if they were made by different people
you can’t find the user’s edit tag (something like *, or my edit)
it doesn’t use edit tags (ouatedit, the100edit, arrowedit, etc)
it’s bad enough that people will steal someone else’s work and provide it to the fandom as their own, but helping them out by spreading it to others is just as bad. if a gifset is going to be stolen, make it have 0 notes, not 500. if several of these tips applies to a gifset you’ve seen, there are a few things you can do:
reverse google search (right click one of the gifs, go to “search google for this image”)
if the style of the gif looks like it was made by someone you know, go down their edit tag or message them asking if they a) made the gifset or b) know who did (as someone who makes gifs, i also know the style of several other gifmakers, and would be able to help even if it wasn’t mine!)
message someone else (a friend, a popular blogger, etc) and ask them if the gif seems stolen
but most importantly, if these are applying to an edit you see and you can’t tell if a gifset is stolen or not, don’t reblog it. i don’t care how good or it is, or how much emotions you get from it. don’t take the chance of reblogging something that’s stolen. there are plenty of gifs in the sea, so to speak. you will find something similar to it.

reposters are running rampant in the scene so i thought i’d put together a nice lil guide for newcomers on posting to the site. dont forget that these tips works when reblogging stuff as well; keep an eye out for blogs that are known to reposting other people’s content ! no one likes their pics, edits, or gifs being reblogged from people who didn’t take/make them, so heads up!

if you always remember to credit the photographer. (doesnt count if the photographer isnt known. read the next section beneath the bats for more !)
“This pic i saved weeks ago looks edited, can I post it?”
if it’s an edit not made by you (and especially with someone’s watermark on it), don’t post it.
Is it a meme? Sure, go ahead. But if it’s got a watermark, don’t delete the watermark. Shouldn’t be anything questionable about posting with memes, i think.
“I edited the pics myself, can I post it?”
Yes, unless: 1.) the photographer has explicitly asked no one to edit their pictures upon posting anywhere, or 2.) it’s not okay to post it in the first place, you fucking gremlin.
if you always credit. _Always. _no matter if the ~~aesthetic~~ goes awry with an added “[x]” to the bottom of the post, please post credits.
“It’s a gif. Can I post it?”
Gifs are always made by someone, so in case it’s not made by you, it’s better not to post it.
If you made it, do post it ! Totally okay. ( Extra points if you link the video you made it from, makes people happy. )
Now for the more specific situations…
“The picture I found is grainy as fuck, zoomed weirdly, the source can’t be found even with witchcraft and it doesn’t seem to have a watermark on it. Can I post it?”
Welcome to the Grey Zone, everyone: here the regulations don’t apply. These pics are usually taken by various fans in early 00s and are usually okay to post; not because it’s legal to reshare them, but because usually no one gets hurt if the pics are reshared years after the pic was taken. So yes, usually it is okay to post it. Ask someone more familiar with old mcr pics for help if you want to credit the pics (usually impossible, though, so don’t sweat it).
It’d be cool if you still linked the site where you found the original pic, though.
“It’s a paper clipping of an interview. Can I post it?”
If you can make out the magazine the picture is taken from, please add that when you post it. (+ @mcrscans already does that with splendid credits, so check their blog out first!)
“It’s from (the member)’s Instagram. Can I post it?”
Yes, if you tell people it’s from the said member’s Instagram / Snapchat / Google+ / Website. There are blogs that are dedicated to posting the members’ social media pictures so I’m sure you can find someone else’s post on it (@postmcrnews, for example) but if you really need to repost it yourself, go ahead.
blake pointed out that posting stuff from private accounts can be an invasion of privacy, so heads up for that! don’t go for your idol’s second cousin’s granma’s wife’s facebook for scandalous pictures, that ain’t cool.

Can be, unless the said fan has asked people not to repost. However! If you post the pic, link the fan’s accounts under the pic!
FEEL FREE to make edits of these pictures, as long as all the other obligations are met (credits, where the pic is taken from, permissions to use the pics).
